From the terrifying Eastern State Penitentiary’s Terror Behind the Walls to the many fall festivals that Philly has to offer, there is bound to be something that you and your family will enjoy! Check out these exciting events going on this October in the Philadelphia area!

Terror Behind the Walls
September 21st – November 10th (select dates)
Get ready to be scared, as Eastern State Penitentiary gets ready to open up their popular Halloween attraction, Terror Behind the Walls. Walk through the abandoned halls by nightfall when all the zombies, ghouls, and creatures come out to play, or if you’re not looking to be scared visit during the day for a regular tour of the prison!

Night Market Point Breeze
October 4th
From 6 – 10PM, get ready to enjoy fantastic food, craft beer peddlers, live music, and free activities at the Food Trust’s giant food festival, Night Market. The final event of the season, this fall festival will be located in the Point Breeze neighborhood around 20th and Federal streets. You don’t want to miss out on this amazing event!

The GLOW: A Jack O’Lantern Experience
October 4th – 28th
After the success of last year’s events, The GLOW: A Jack O’Lantern Experience will return to West Fairmount Park where visitors can walk among more than 5,000 hand-carved pumpkins. From Disney princesses to classic Jack O’Lanterns, this is a great event that everyone in the family will enjoy!

Midtown Village Fall Festival
October 6th
Midtown Village Fall Festival returns this year along the busiest thoroughfares of Midtown Village. From 12PM – 8PM, enjoy the food, drinks, and festivities as well as the sidewalk sales that the festival has to offer. On top of that, beyond 13th Street, Bru Craft and Wurst has a festival of its own that complements the excitement of the Midtown Village Fall Festival!

Old City Fest
October 7th
From 11AM – 6PM, Old City Fest celebrates the maker population with crafts, exhibitions, and demonstrations. Located on N. 3rd & Arch streets, there will be plenty to explore along the closed-to-traffic thoroughfares. In addition, restaurants, bars, and shops will take it outside and serve up some delicious eats, drinks, and shopping!

Philadelphia Flyers Home Opener
October 9th
Kick off the hockey season right by cheering on the Philadelphia Flyers as they take on the San Jose Sharks for the home opener! Knowing how tough the Broadstreet Bullies are, the game is bound to be full of excitement!

Chinatown Ye Shi Night Market
October 11th
Ye Shi Night Market returns to Chinatown for an evening-long festival filled with delicious food, spirited festivals, and the best dining in the neighborhood. This festival starts at 7PM, so get there early so you don’t miss out!

Pennsylvania Ballet Presents Romeo and Juliet
October 11th – 21st (select dates)
See Romeo and Juliet transformed into a ballet this year by the Pennsylvania Ballet. This classic tale will be brought to life on the Academy of Music stage, located on 240 S. Broad Street.

Philadelphia 76ers Home Opener
October 18th
The Philadelphia 76ers will take on the Chicago Bulls in the highly anticipated home opener. This season promises to be just as exciting as the last season as Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, J.J. Reddick, and more get ready to set the stage!

Broadway Philadelphia Presents Fiddler on the Roof
October 23rd – 28th
The classic Broadway show Fiddler on the Roof will have a weeklong run at the Academy of Music. Make sure you buy your tickets now so you can enjoy the wonderful performances of famous songs and watch the story of family and love unfold!

South Street PumpkinFest
October 27th
Head on over to 200 Pine Street in the South Street Headhouse District to enjoy a day full of shopping, live music, food and drink, a straw bale maze, circus performances, horse and wagon hayrides, and face painting! This fall festival is great for the family, plus any children under 12 can trick or treat along South Street!

Philly Farm and Food Fest
October 28th
From 11AM – 4PM, the Philly Farm and Food Fest moves to the Navy Yard where visitors can enjoy samples from area farms, local food trucks, and more! With over 200 vendors, you are bound to enjoy the shopping and food!

Halloween in Philadelphia
October 31st
There is plenty of Halloween fun to enjoy throughout the city! From Halloween-night parties, pumpkin picking, horror movie screens, haunted attractions, and more, you are bound to find something to enjoy the spooky festivities throughout Philadelphia!
