Unique Ways to Beat the Summer Heat

Summer is right around the corner, which means even warmer weather is bound to set in! Whether you like to soak up the sun or prefer to sit in the shade and stay cool, here are a few ways to beat the summer heat when it gets unbearable!

Stay Hydrated
One of the best and easiest ways to stay cool during the summer and beat the heat is to stay hydrated! When you lose water to dehydration, your body temperature rises, that’s why drinking often is essential to keeping cool during the summer heat!

Eat Cool to Stay Cool
There are certain foods that will naturally cool your internal systems when you eat them, which is a great way to stay cool during the summer! From sweet, ripe summer fruits to fresh veggies, there are a lot of snack options to chow down on to beat the summer heat! Just make sure to stay away from super salty and spicy foods, which will make you feel hotter!

Drink Chrysanthemum Tea
Drink it hot or cold, Chrysanthemum tea is a natural coolant. Therefore, you’ll want to sip on some Chrysanthemum tea throughout the summer months to stay cool!

Optimize Your Fans
For optimum cooling, you’ll want to optimize your fans to blow the right way! If you have a ceiling fan, make sure it runs counter-clockwise during the summer. For window fans, you’ll want to face the fan “out” rather than “in” at night. When you face the fan out at night, it will suck all the hot air out of your room, making it cooler for you to sleep more comfortably.

Have a Spritzer
When the going gets hot during the summer months, it’s best to keep a spray bottle around for a quick spritz to keep yourself cool! Keep the spray bottle in the refrigerator to keep the water cold and spray yourself when you’re feeling a little overheated. You could also add a bit of mint to the water as well, which will help naturally cool down!

Fan It Out
Just because you have an air conditioner in your home doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be running fans as well! Although fans don’t cool a room down, they make you feel cooler when the fan is blowing over you. However, if you decide to fan it out this, make sure to shut the fans off before you leave a room, so you don’t waste energy!

Know Your Cooling Points
If all else fails and you can’t cool down, then you’ll want to know your body’s best cooling points! Wrap an ice cube or any cool object in a towel and apply them to certain pulse points, like your wrist and neck, to help cool you down quickly and effectively.
