What to Expect Before, During, & After Your Build

If you’re considering or decided on a new construction home, there are a lot of things you have to understand. Figuring out what you want and need from your dream home, what goes on during the building process, and what happens after your dream home is built is a lot to comprehend, therefore it’s important to know exactly what to expect when building a new construction home. In order to make the process as stress free as possible, here is what to expect before, during, and after your build.

Prior to the Build
The first thing you have to do is pick a trusted builder to work with. However, before the build you’ll want to ask both yourself and the builder a lot of questions. Ask yourself: How much square footage do you need and want? What kind of floor plan will work best for you? What kind of community do you want to live in? What can you afford? Are you approved for a loan? You’ll want to make sure you hammer out all of these details and more to make sure you can afford to make your dream home come to fruition. After that, you’ll work with your builder to choose a home site and than the building process will begin.

During the Build
There will be a lot going on during the build of your new construction home. Site preparation, laying foundation, framing the house, installation of heating and cooling units, plumbing lines, and electrical systems, laying flooring, painting, and installing fixtures and appliances are only a few of the things taking place. Towards the end of the build, the tiny details will be added to finalize the build of your home. Faucets and fixtures will be installed and your front yard will undergo a transformation. However, you don’t want to delay closing and change your mind last-minute on finishes. Therefore, you should make these decisions early in the process. Here at Judd we have our very own Design Studio to help you choose selections with options that meet your needs and personal design style. After the Build
Finally, this is the moment you’ve been waiting for! After the build, you’ll be able to move in to your dream home! This is the best moment in the process however, there are still a couple of things to take care of before you formally close and move in. Once your home is complete make sure to do a “walk through.” Allow yourself to become settled in and accustomed to your new home and thoroughly examine all of its components. Take note of your home’s current features and think about potential add-ons you personally might want to include later. Also, even later down the line after closing on your new home submit a year-end warranty claim with your builder if necessary.
