If you’re looking for some plans for the 4th this year look no further! The biggest celebration of our nations independence takes place right in the city that birthed this great country!
The festivities start early this year with fireworks displays on Friday June 30th and Saturday July 1st at Penn’s Landing. On June 30th, you can take a trip down to Penn’s landing and see the world-renown Philadelphia Orchestra put on a FREE concert for anyone who wants to watch at 8 pm, then watch a dazzling display of fireworks at 9:30 pm! You can keep the celebration going through the weekend on July 1st with the US Army’s Band, “Pershing’s Own” as they put on a free concert of their own at 8 pm, followed once again by beautiful fireworks at 9:30 pm. Both events take place at the Great Plaza at Penn’s Landing, 101 S. Columbus Blvd.
On the actual birthdate of our nation, there will be a massive Party on the Parkway from 12-7 pm on the Ben Franklin Parkway. The event is open to the public and will feature musical acts and other forms of entertainment all day long as well as delicious food vendors of every variety. At 7 pm get ready for a show with performances by Mary J. Blige and Philly’s own Boyz II Men! After the free concert, the festivities come to a grand close with a fireworks display at 9:30 over the iconic Philadelphia Museum of Art.
