Here are some fun ideas for an outing this weekend – all located nearby in our beautiful city!

Spruce Street Harbor Park – I’m sure you’ve heard of this place by now!  The beloved pop-up park will continue to invite visitors to lounge on its signature hammocks, enjoy food on its floating restaurant, cool off with drafts from the beer garden and hang out and play games – ping pong, shuffleboard and more – along its waterfront boardwalk. Pennsylvania Guild Fine Craft Fair at Rittenhouse Square – brings more than 150 artists from across the nation to the sidewalks of Rittenhouse Square for its sixth year in a row. The three-day juried fair showcases unique pieces that range from ceramics and furniture to jewelry and clothing. You’ll also find a new, emerging artist section set-up in the center of the show, as well as on-going and free, hands-on activities.  May 13, 14 & 15, 2016. Fri & Sat // 11-7pm. Sun // 11-5pm.

Chinese Lantern Festival Through June 12, 2016
As part of the celebration of Franklin Square’s 10th birthday, Historic Philadelphia is lighting up the landmark park with the first-ever Chinese Lantern Festival to occur in the Northeast United States. The square at 6th & Race streets is glowing with 25 illuminated lanterns, handcrafted giant flowers, a three-story pagoda and a 200-foot-long Chinese dragon. Nightly performances will also take place.

Opening of Creative Africa Exhibition Creative Africa brings an expansive display of works from visionary artists all throughout Africa to the Ruth and Raymond G. Perelman Building through a series of five special exhibitions. From contemporary photography and fashion to architecture and centuries-old sculpture, museum-goers can explore a wide range of mediums from a variety of time periods.
