Our Favorite Holiday Traditions

The winter and holiday season is filled with exciting traditions to look forward to share with your friends and family each year. Here are some of our favorite holiday traditions from all different aspects including food, family, decorations and more!

Holiday Food:

1. Who doesn’t love warm holiday decorated cookies during the cold winter? Organize time to bake cookies with friends or family and pick your favorite holiday cookie recipe, there’s so many to choose from!

2. Bring out your creativity and add your own twist to a gingerbread house! You can buy kits with everything you need, plus any extra candy you love to add and bite off later, or you can even use gram crackers and icing to assemble it and challenge yourself a little more.

Family Activities:

1. See a production of ‘The Nutcracker,’ ‘A Christmas Carol,’ or another holiday-themed show to get yourself in the holiday spirit!

2. Go caroling with your family members to spread the holiday cheer to neighbors and friends. The good thing about caroling is that you don’t need to be a great singer for your group to sound in tune and of course, it’s fun!

3. Go sledding, skiing, ice skating, or any other outdoor winter activity with your family. This is a great way to get outside, since a lot of people want to stay warm inside. There are plenty of outdoor winter activities that are too enjoyable to pass up.

Around the Home Traditions:

1. “Elf on the shelf” is a great tradition to start for your kids, and will keep them on their best behavior knowing that the elves are keeping an eye on them!

2. Purchase or make a new ornament each year. This is something to look forward to that will add to your sentimental collection every holiday.

3. There are endless holiday movies to choose from to watch with your family, snuggled up by the fire drinking hot chocolate. Any holiday movie is great quality time with family and a perfect tradition.

Holiday Gift Traditions:

1. Draw names from your immediate family and get a gift for only that person. You can set whatever limits you want and it’s a fun way for everyone to receive a gift!

2. Pick a family member or 2 to come along gift shopping with you. Set aside a full day to get it all done in one area, and have some fun while doing it.

There are many holiday traditions, some are very well known or common and some are very family specific that you make yourself. The holidays are a time to be with family and traditions build memories every year with them.
