Enjoy Winter in The Greater Philadelphia Area

Don’t let the cold weather keep you from enjoying the city! Here are a few ways to enjoy the winter in Philadelphia and beyond.

Ice Skating

Lace up your skates and go ice skating at one of the outdoor rinks. The Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest and Dilworth Park’s Rothman Ice Rink are great options in Center City, but don’t discount other options like The Penn 1923 Ice Rink in University City or Rizzo Rink on South Front Street.

Visit Longwood Gardens

Walk among the greenery at Longwood Gardens, where the seasonal flora is always in full-bloom and interesting events and performances are always taking place.

Go to The Zoo

During the colder months, lines will be practically non-existent and you’ll be able to roam around as you please. As a bonus, winter zoo admission is cheaper than the rest of the season!

Skiing & Snowboarding

There are tons of great mountains of all sizes within a couple of hours of the city. Check out Blue Mountain & Bear Creek for skiing, snowboarding, tubing and winter fun for the whole family.

Go Sledding

If we are lucky enough to get another snowfall, check out this list of all the best hills throughout Philadelphia for sledding!

Take a Road Trip To the Poconos

Take in the mountains and charming towns in the Poconos. Visit Jim Thorpe for its historic and beautiful buildings, go hiking in the Delaware Water Gap or walk through the streets of Stroudsburg. A getaway might be just what you need!
