The Franklin Institute
The Franklin Institute is a staple in Philly with fun and exciting attractions year-round. If you’ve been before you’re sure to enjoy this time even more with the recently-opened Spy exhibit. Keep those shades on inside and you’ll fit right in with the exhibit which focuses on the Secret World of Espionage. Get out of the heat for a while and chill out in the cool Tuttleman IMAX Theater which offers a great rest from the fun of the Franklin Institute.
Adventure Aquarium
The Adventure Aquarium is the perfect place to escape the heat this weekend and enjoy the sights. The whole family is sure to have a wonderful time in the nearly 200,000 square feet of comfortable air-conditioned space where you’ll be surrounded by stunning creatures in marvelous exhibits. With over 8,500 animals to see, you’re sure to be entertained and cooled off all day.
Please Touch Museum
Take a trip with the kids this weekend and head to the Please Touch Museum, the only museum where you’re encouraged to touch the exhibits! For a limited time only, beat the heat and take advantage of the River Adventure’s exhibit where you and your family can race sail boats in water currents and play with bubbles without having to worry about your kids in this heatwave. After all the fun and festivities take the family to grab a cool Rita’s water ice in the Please Taste Cafe.
The Free Library of Philadelphia
What’s better in this heat than to get lost in a good book? There’s no better place to get away than the Free Library where you can search through thousands of books to find the story you want to take you away for the day. If that doesn’t interest you then be sure to check out The Rare Book Department for an adventure you won’t be able to find anywhere else. Stay cool!
