Creating a sense of order in your backyard or garden will make you feel good. It can be cathartic to rip out dead, leftover plants and remove random sticks and debris from your area.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Clean Your Outdoor Furniture and Deck<\/b><\/h2>\n

If you\u2019ve got a power washer – put it to use! If not, a bucket of soapy water and scrub brush will do the trick. It is a great time to remove last year\u2019s grime on all surfaces top to bottom. If necessary, add a new coat of paint (which you can order online) to brighten worn furniture.<\/span><\/p>\n

Grow a Salad Garden<\/b><\/h2>\n

If you don\u2019t have room for a garden, plant some greens! You only need a small pot or a window box to yield plenty of baby greens for your table. Mesclun (a mix of lettuces), spinach, and arugula can be planted in the same container. In about a month, you will have fresh greens for you and your family to enjoy. Plenty of companies will ship seeds to your door.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Start Some Veggies Indoors<\/b><\/h2>\n

If you feel inspired and have the space, try starting some veggies like tomatoes or eggplants from seed. Once they\u2019ve gotten started you can transplant them into your garden later. They can start to grow on a window sill for now.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Make Your Own Potting Bench<\/b><\/h2>\n

Do you have an old bench, nightstand or dresser that you\u2019ve been meaning to donate to goodwill? You can upcycle it by converting it into a potting bench. Paint it your favorite color, add some fun designs or use it as is. It can be repurposed as a table for your backyard as well.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Design Plant Markers<\/b><\/h2>\n

Create some fun plant markers from craft materials you might have on hand like wine corks, popsicle sticks, or from found materials, such as pretty stones. Decorate them with acrylic paint or permanent markers to make it easier to keep track of everything you\u2019ve planted. You can put them in your potted plants or in the garden.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
