Choose Subtle Color<\/b><\/p>\n

Instead of bold, primary colors, choose soothing shades and mostly monochromatic tones. Gentle hues of blue, lavender, or green promote feelings of peace and quiet. Rich tones can help set the mood of coziness and comfort.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Keep It Simple<\/b><\/p>\n

A bedroom should look cozy and simple, sophisticated, and elegant. For ease of movement, leave a minimum of three feet between the bed and side walls or large pieces of furniture and at least two feet between the bed and low furniture, like tables and dressers. Furnish your bedroom with only what you need and keep the clutter to a minimum.<\/span><\/p>\n

Larger Bedside Tables<\/b><\/p>\n

Your bedside tables are likely too small for the scale of your bed and room. Consider a chest of drawers for a bedside table to maximize your storage and create a nice tabletop space for a bigger lamp, a vase of flowers and a few pretty picture frames. Create an elegant space beside your bed \u2013 It\u2019s the first thing you see in the morning!<\/span><\/p>\n

This may be the most important thing you can do to upgrade your bedroom. After all, your bedding is the largest visual in this room and it should reflect the feeling you want in the room. If you have a comforter or duvet that you like you can improve your room by adding a few more layers to the bed. A soft blanket at the foot of the bed, a few toss pillows or new sheets and bed skirt to complete the experience. Select a palette you love and build your bed based on that palette.<\/span><\/p>\n

Don’t Overlook the Ceiling<\/b><\/p>\n

The ceiling is the fifth wall in a room. When you lie in bed, do you see a bland, blank surface? Add a subtle pattern or soft color. Paint the ceiling a slightly lighter version of the wall color. This will help to visually lower the ceiling and give the space a feeling of comfort and intimacy.\u00a0<\/span>Other solutions would be to stencil or wallpaper the ceiling, add architectural elements in the form of beams or moldings or use a decorative paint treatment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
