Philadelphia is the largest city in Pennsylvania, attracting tourists with historic landmarks like Independence Hall and City Hall.\" width=\"653\" height=\"434\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This past month of November, Mayor Nutter of Philadelphia announced that the city has been named the first <a href=\"http:\/\/www.navyyard.org\/theyardblog\/2015\/11\/09\/philadelphia-named-first-world-heritage-city-in-the-united-states\/\">World Heritage City of the United States!<\/a>\u00a0Philadelphia has been granted this title by\u00a0XIII World Congress of the Organization of World Heritage Cities in Arequipa, Peru and it comes as the result\u00a0of a two-year campaign. It is\u00a0predicted\u00a0to increase\u00a0the City\u2019s international stature as well as\u00a0give\u00a0new growth in order to influence\u00a0tourism and commerce in the area.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Nutter proudly announces this designation and mentions that Philadelphia is being mentioned for its many contributions to the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Philadelphia&#8217;s case to become the first World Heritage City in the U.S. involved many factors throughout history. It was given considering the city is the location of Independence Hall, in which\u00a0America\u2019s Founding Fathers signed\u00a0the Declaration of Independence and altered\u00a0history to create this\u00a0nation in 1776. Also it is where the United States Constitution was written and signed.
